The Coastal Environmental Baseline program (CBEP) is an ongoing Fisheries and Oceans Canada program designed to work with Indigenous communities, non-governmental organizations and local stakeholder groups to collaboratively identify key ecosystem components in need of study and gather data to achieve a valid ecological baseline. In addition to many partner organizations' work, internal DFO projects have been developed including one to support data collection relevant to the physical oceanography of the Northwest Fundy Shores study area. The data yield from that project includes detections from VR2AR receivers, used as acoustic releases for oceanographic moorings, located in Passamaquoddy Bay, the St Croix (Skutik) river and along the Bay of Fundy coast, beginning in 2023 and with plans to continue until 2028.
