===FORM START=== 0. Intended/preferred project project code, if known? (May be altered by OTNDC) format: XXXX (3-6 uppercase letters that do not already have a representation in the OTN DB. Will be assigned if left blank) CMMAT 1. Title-style description of the project? format: < 70 words in 'paper title' form The Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq Acoustic Telemetry 2. Brief abstract of the project? format: < 500 words in 'abstract' form Using animal tracking technology developed by Innovasea, the Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq (CMM) is studying the overwintering movements and spatial use of the inner bay of fundy (iBoF) by juvenile BoF striped bass, as well as spatial and temporal usage of iBoF by Atlantic halibut and spiny dogfish. Spiny dogfish and Atlantic halibut will be double tagged with Innovasea V9-180k High Residency (HR) and V9-69k acoustic tags, while striped bass will be tagged with only V9-180k HR tags. Striped bass tags will be distributed spatially and temporally across five (5) regions in iBoF to account for group movements of striped bass, with tagging occurring in the fall. Atlantic halibut and spiny dogfish will be tagged in the area of Minas Basin, with tagging occurring in the spring and fall respectively. In 2023, CMM will deploy three (3) Innovasea HR2 180kHz acoustic receivers in the Stewiacke River, and one (1) HR2 180kHz receiver in the Shubenacadie River at a point upstream of the confluence with the Stewiacke River to monitor for overwintering use by striped bass. 3. Technician: Person(s) responsible for preparation, operation and/or maintenance of shipboard, laboratory or deployed scientific instrumentation, but has no invested interest in the data returned by that instrumentation. Researcher: Person(s) who may use/analyse the data to answer research questions, but is not the project lead. Can be a student if their involvement spans past the completion of an academic degree. Student: Person(s) researching as part of a project as part of their work towards an academic degree. Collaborator: A provider of input/support to a project without formal involvement in the project.
